Think Like an Awesome Ancestor: A Daily Practice to Ease Eco-Anxiety | Heather White | TEDxBoston

What world are we leaving future generations? Already 1 out of 4 Gen Zers don’t want to have children because they are so worried about the climate crisis. This extreme distress is called “eco-anxiety” or “climate anxiety.” Today’s kids need to know they are not alone. Discover your strengths in climate action and transform eco-anxiety through a daily practice of sustainability. Our collective action will drive the necessary culture change for a greener, more equitable world for our future loved ones. Heather White, who consumer advocate Erin Brockovich calls the "Brené Brown of the environmental movement," is the author of One Green Thing: Discover Your Hidden Power to Help Save the Planet (Harper Collins 2022). Heather's two decades of experience in climate policy and environmental advocacy include serving as a presidential campaign staffer to Al Gore, the environmental counsel to U.S. Senator Russ Feingold, and the executive director of three national environmental nonprofits. She's a frequent spokesperson on climate and environmental issues and has been featured on Good Morning America, CBS, and NBC, and quoted in the Washington Post, the New York Times, and the Guardian. Her two Gen Z daughters inspired her to research and write about the mental health impacts of the climate crisis. The nonprofit organization she founded, onegreenthing.org, tackles eco-anxiety through joyful daily action, leading to culture change for climate solutions. She lives in Bozeman, Montana. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
